Sanur Beach is located in the east of Denpasar -which is the capital city of Bali. It's about 10 Km far and only takes about 15 minutes from Denpasar. There are many kinds of public transportation that connect Denpasar to Sanur beach. You can either take buses or small public cars. The buses and the cars pass by in every 5 minutes. You can also rent a motorcycle if you know how to ride it.

If you've visited Kuta Beach, It seems like Kuta is too crowded and busy, due to its location which is near the city of Denpasar. Compared to Kuta Beach, Sanur beach feels calmer and quieter. It’s not because people get no interest in visiting this beach, it’s just because of the location of Sanur beach which is in a more suburb area. The location of Sanur is quieter, the wave is calmer, the air is fresher, and there are more trees around the beach, so that they make the beach more natural than any other beaches in Bali.

It's recommended that you go to Sanur in early morning before the sun rises. This beach is well-known of its exotic view of sunrise. The sunrise view there is different from it is in other places. What makes it special is that the sunrise looks reddish with the reflection from the water and wet sands that exist only in Sanur. You'll get to see truly beautiful sunrise ever. In the morning time after the sunrise, it's a time to take a morning walk along the road near the beach. The sidewalks along the roads are wide and clean -which is very comfortable to walk on. You'll also find some "morning markets" there. You can buy things like souvenirs, books, sun-glasses, or even get your breakfast in there. It's named morning market because it exists only in the morning. You can only find those markets in the morning. When the day is getting noon, the sellers leave, the markets are gone.

Sanur has wide coastal areas. The distance between the real land and the edge of the sea is very long, so that it has a very wide and white sandy area. People have fun playing around in the white sands. You and your friends or family can make a little castle with the sands. Or you can have your friends or family bury you with the warm white sands.

If you like to go swimming on the beach, Sanur is a perfect place for that. Sanur has calmer wave than any other beaches in Bali. In addition to that, the beach is very shallow. The water area of the beach doesn't directly get deeper. You can even walk or go swimming 500-meter-far from the beach with the water is still as high as you waist. You can rent floats, water balls, floating ducks, or other things that you can use to make your water play more fun. It usually costs only 5,000 to 10,000 rupiahs.

Any one wants to do canoeing? There is no places that are more fun and safer to do the canoeing other than Sanur Beach. The wave is calm, the water is shallow, and the weather is warm and nice.

There is one popular icon of Sanur beach. It’s The Grand Bali Beach Hotel. This hotel has special historical story. This is the first five-star hotel that that was built in Bali Island. And it’s build in Sanur Beach. In addition to that, there is also a famous art-gallery and museum. It’s Le Mayeur Musem. There are paintings and sculptures of world’s famous artists stored here. At some occasion, there is a world festival of art where a lot of artist from around the globe come to visit.

Sanur is not only known of its beautiful views of its white sandy areas, but it is also known of its daily cultural life that is still original. The daily life there is not much affected by modernity. For example, the local people who most of them are fishermen, still use traditional boats that use no machines, the boats use sails instead. If you pay attention to small details, you'll see that some of the local people still wear traditional Balinese dress in their daily activities. You'll also find old ceremonies like Ngaben Ceremony and temple worshipping ceremony. Literally, being in Sanur Beach makes you become a part of the cultural life of the local people there.
